Course: Writing for Broadcast

This writing-intensive course covers writing for various broadcast genres and situations. It covers scriptwriting, storytelling, and how to prepare for and conduct interviews. Students learn to create content that is conversational and adaptable to different formats. From news reports to feature stories, students develop the ability to engage audiences effectively while meeting the unique demands of written, visual, and audio storytelling. 

What You Will Do:

  • Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions while incorporating innovative teaching strategies.
  • Engage students in cutting-edge technologies and industry trends.
  • Assess student performance and mentor classroom success to prepare them for their chosen career path.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

What You Will Bring:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree AND 5-10 years of professional Broadcasting experience as a reporter, anchor, producer, or news director.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Communication or Broadcast Journalism or PhD Communication. Exceptions may be granted to individuals with a Master’s degree in any field possessing at least 18 graduate credits in Communications AND
    • Writing for Broadcasting experience. Professional or Teaching experience required.
