Job Description

Grand Canyon University’s Department of Welcome Programs is seeking a full time Marketing & Communications Coordinator. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating a variety of marketing and communication programs that will facilitate the orientation and transition process for incoming students.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and coordinate marketing and communication efforts (e.g. video, written copy, social media, promotional items) pertaining to new student orientation and transition programs. 

  • Recruit, train, and mentor a team of student leaders in the use of social media platforms and other marketing efforts on behalf of the department.  

  • Review and edit a variety of media and marketing content with a high level of attention to detail. 

  • Provide artistic direction and occasional design for a variety of marketing efforts in order to reach goal demographic. 

  • Maintain brand standards and ensure consistency across campaigns. 

  • Maintain and expand knowledge of marketing practices, processes, and relevant trends. 

  • Track and maintain lists for relevant communications and programs. 

  • Collect and analyze data through a variety of means (e.g., surveys, focus groups) to provide feedback for management in assessing the effectiveness of student leadership activities. 

  • Assist in day-of coordination of New Student Orientation, Orientation Groups, Welcome Week, Spring Welcome and other programs. 

  • Assist with the mentorship of student leaders and provide direction for program responsibilities and tasks.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required from a regionally accredited institution, preferably in marketing or communications.

  • 1-year experience in marketing-related role.

  • Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Must work varying schedules including evenings, holidays, and weekends when necessary.

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background investigation.

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
