Job Description

Grand Canyon University’s Department of Welcome Programs is seeking a full time Events & Logistics Coordinator. The Events & Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and oversight of assigned events, programs, and activities which fall under the functions of the Department of Welcome Programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate events, initiatives, and programs to engage incoming students and assist them in preparing for campus life. 

  • Plan and execute event logistics for large initiatives including Welcome Week, Move-In, Move-Out, New Student Orientation, Orientation Groups, Spring Welcome, and Parent & Family Orientation. 

  • Oversee staffing and volunteer management process including recruitment, scheduling, day-of management, and debrief.  

  • Assist in recruiting, training, and mentoring student leader group as they plan and host events on behalf of the department. 

  • Lead planning and organizing event meetings to obtain information, activities, and details for specific events. 

  • Use Microsoft Excel or other relevant platforms to track and maintain lists containing staffing and relevant event logistics. 

  • Facilitate collaborative efforts with campus partners and vendors.

  • Maintain and expand knowledge of relevant systems, platforms, and resources to aid in managing and facilitating organizational details.

  • Assist with the mentorship of student leaders and provide direction for program responsibilities and tasks.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required from a regionally accredited institution.

  • 2-years’ experience in event-planning role which requires high volume contact with customers, preferably in an education setting, interacting with students and parents.

  • Must have valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

  • Must work varying schedules including evenings, holidays, and weekends when necessary.

  • Must pass pre-employment background investigation.

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
