Course: Visual Art for Games
A compelling game has compelling art. This foundational course is designed to introduce students to the world of visual design and art in the context of game development. Students will learn the design tools used for creation of the game pitch, concept presentation, and understand the workflow for creation or editing of art used in games, both analog or digital. Technology requirement: Students are responsible for providing their own laptop that is capable of running the Adobe Creative Cloud.

- Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions while incorporating innovative teaching strategies.
- Engage students in cutting-edge technologies and industry trends.
- Assess student performance and mentor classroom success to prepare them for their chosen career path.
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
What You Will Bring:
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in game art, Game or Graphic Design, Film, Illustration, or other creative field, scriptwriting or a business degree with industry experience. OR
- bachelor’s degree in game development or other related STEAM field.
- Minimum of 3 years working in the game design industry, highly skilled in visual software used in the game industries including the Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Required: Portfolio and case studies of game production projects worked on by the candidate.
- Examples of application of design skills to game content, assets, and branding.
- Knowledge of the game theory, mechanics, player motivation and the game marketplace;
- the game production pipeline, game creative direction, ability to manage a creative team.
- Please include a summary of your practical work experience within the game entertainment market, including analog, digital, and mobile.
