Located in the Valley of Sun in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, GCU is a regionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University.
The Grand Canyon University Student Fitness Centers is accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant position. The Graduate Assistant will work with Management as well as Student Workers to ensure the facility is operating safely, efficiently, and in a manner that best serves the general campus population. The employee is required to be accepted and matriculate through a Grand Canyon University graduate program.
What you will do:
Supervise Student Fitness Center (SFC) locations and its occupants’ ensuring protocols are being adhered to.
Work with current SFC employees to uphold direction of the facility and oversee SFC and its Instructors in providing assistance whenever necessary.
Confirm SFC locations are made available when reserved in accordance with scheduling.
Ensure individuals entering the facility check identifications as well as sign in at the front desk.
Communicate with athletic coaches, campus employees, and students to ensure facility is accessible.
Supervise participants while observing activities pertaining to the SFC.’s.
Ensure accessibility for any tours, coaches, students, or faculty seeking use of the facility.
Must be available to work evenings and weekends at the SFC from 6:00pm-12am.
Must be available to work at any one of our four SFC locations; Chaparral, Papago, Juniper, Antelope and Verde.
Putting together a monthly health and wellness newsletter and work on the student workers weekly scheduling.
What you need:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree.
Must be accepted into a Grand Canyon University graduate program.
Must be able to maintain academic GPA of 3.0.
Be able to work in conjunction with current staff.
Capable of working independently without direction or oversight.
Meticulous with a keen attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Good relationship management skills and ability to work cohesively in a team environment requiring good social and interpersonal skills.
Ability to cope with changing priorities, rolling deadlines and a fast-paced environment effectively.
Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
