Student Engagement Coordinator
Job Description
Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions:
- Coordinate and plan GCU sponsored events and/or activities as related to Student Engagement. Coordinate logistics, arrangements and details with other on-campus departments ensuring flawless execution of the event or activity.
- Assist Manager with planning GCU and Associated Students of GCU sponsored events and/or activities related to diversity awareness and programming.
- Assist Manager and staff in planning, organizing, implementing, and participating in Welcome Week activities.
- Execute the logistics of the leadership development for the Associated Students of GCU which may involve facilitating/participating in the activities.
- Lead the promotion of events or programs through the use of social media platforms or other media and communications.
- Maintain and update relevant social media content on a regular basis, ensuring accuracy of information; compose and distribute other communications regarding current student events and programs.
- Lead and maintain the development of Associated Students of GCU Marketing, including the development of creative ad copy and distribution of materials consistent with marketing standards.
- Collect data through a variety of means, e.g., interviews, questionnaires, to provide feedback for management in assessing the effectiveness of student leadership activities.
- Keep track of all expenses and reconciles expenses against budget; follow appropriate GCU protocols for contracts, orders, and accounting. Provide input for the annual budgeting process for Student Engagement/ASGCU events and programs.
- Assist the Director and/or Managers with other campus-wide programs, as needed.
- Aid student leaders through informal mentoring to ensure success in the fulfillment of their leadership roles.
- Perform other administrative activities such as, preparing reports, answering phones, filing, data entry, photocopying, collating materials, etc.
- Work some holiday, evening, and weekend hours.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Good planning and organization skills and good attention to detail.
- Must be able to develop effective relationships with students/individuals of diverse and cultural backgrounds.
- Familiarity with social media and its uses.
- Ability to cope and adapt to changing priorities, work in a fast-paced environment and under stressful conditions to meet deadlines and schedules.
- Good critical thinking and problem resolution skills.
- MS Office Suite proficiency.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules including evenings, holidays and weekends depending upon scheduled activities or when necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None.
Experience/ Education
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related discipline required.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in student leadership role and/or student activities clubs, government, etc. and/or administrative role.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience and education may be substituted upon supervisor’s approval.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
