Course: Sociology of Religion
This course provides students with a framework to examine religious organizations as a part of a larger social order. It introduces basic concepts in the sociology of religion and briefly surveys the historical and social landscape of religion. The goal of the course is to analyze religious beliefs, practices, and organizations from a sociological perspective, with a primary focus on religion in the contemporary United States.
What You Will Do:
- Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions
- Engage students in learning course objectives and topics
- Assess student performance and mentor success in the classroom
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University
What You Will Bring:
*Professional or Teaching experience required
- Preferred: PhD in Sociology AND
- Coursework in religion
- Minimum: Master’s in Sociology AND Coursework in religion
- Exceptions may be granted to individuals with a Master’s in any field plus 18 graduate credits in the content area of the course
