Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession.  Other main responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Course Description: In this course, students learn to identify news, develop story ideas, conduct research on stories, write in a journalistic style, and report information in a variety of media.

Qualifications:

*Professional or Teaching experience required

  • Preferred: PhD in English OR  
    • Journalism OR
    • Professional Writing OR
    • Rhetoric OR
    • Linguistics
  • OR Master’s in the above areas
  • OR Master's in any field plus 18 graduate credits in the content area of the course they are teaching AND
    • A minimum of two years of experience teaching multi-media journalism at the collegiate level OR
    • At least two years of professional employment as a reporter or editor at an established magazine or newspaper (print or online) OR
    • A portfolio of pieces published in established magazines and/or newspapers (print or online)
