Course: Families in Contemporary Society
This course takes a holistic look at the structure and function of the family in contemporary society as well as the many societal influences that affect the family. It examines how modern phenomena such as nontraditional family structures, and the proliferation of technology have impacted today’s families and the way they interact with other community systems. Modern governmental guidelines and ethical challenges, including systems such as foster care, are also addressed. Additionally, the role of cultural norms in family systems and the importance of cultural awareness in working with families in the mental health care system is addressed.
Other Courses May Include: Mental Health, Wellness, and Health Care Integration, Death & Dying: the Influences of Cultural, Spiritual & Sociological Factors, AND/OR Community Program Development, Implementation, and Evaluation
What You Will Do:
- Facilitate weekly main discussion forums to engage students in the online classroom
- Adhere to weekly grading requirements, deadlines, and timeframes
- Respond to students’ questions and emails within the established timeframes
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University
What You Will Bring:
- Doctorate in Mental and/or Behavioral Health field AND
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in the community mental and/or behavioral health field related to working with families
- Master's in Mental and/or Behavioral Health field AND
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in the community mental and/or behavioral health field related to working with families
