Grand Canyon University is seeking a full time Lopes Shop - Assistant Manager for our Lopes Shop.  Lopes Shop Assistant Manager will assist the Operations Manager to create an environment which provides a superior sales and customer experience. Works closely with Operations Manager and Buyer to create visual displays and maintain inventory flow.

What you will do:

  • Assist with the day-to-day operational procedures, which may include maintaining the appearance of the registers, assisting customers, operating a cash register, processing returns, stocking the sales floor, and interacting with customers.

  • Knowing all the procedures for the operations of the cash register (opening, closing, post voids, credit cards, returns, exchanges, running sales, gift cards, department charges, etc.)

  • Helps with the day-to-day operations of branch sites including but not limited to all Lope Shops at athletics venues and the hotel shop. Also responsible for maintaining a clean appearance of the checkout counters at all branch shops.

  • Responsible for managing stock room to ensure area is clean, orderly and maintains appropriate stock levels.  Report inaccurate inventory problems and/or out of stocks to the Buyer.

  • Partner with directors and other managers to develop a merchandising calendar.

  • Assist with facilitating accounts receivable, which includes preparing daily deposits, reconciling credit card and charge accounts, and preparing month-end reports for submission to the accounting office.

  • Helps move low merchandise to markdown status and coordinating that information with other departments.

  • Coordinates with others of weekly counts in the store of basic merchandise.  Reports inaccurate inventory problems to the warehouse manager.  Notifies buying team of out-of-stock items.

  • Acts as manager in charge when Operations Manager is absent.

  • Assist in annual physical inventory.

  • Putting together a window display when needed based on the plan set by Operations Manager and Buyer.

  • Assisting in building and creating floor displays.

  • All other duties as assigned.

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, retail management, merchandising, marketing, or communications preferred. 

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in retail.  Collegiate retail preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a lead role in a retail environment.

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule which includes weekends, holidays, evenings and/or early mornings as needed.

  • Must have a valid AZ Driver’s License.

  • Must successfully pass a background check.

  • An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant work experience from comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved maybe substituted upon supervisor’s approval.
