Course: Introduction to Gaming

This course provides students with an in-depth understanding of the gaming industry landscape. Students explore market trends, different sectors within the industry, and various career paths. Additionally, students analyze emerging technologies and future trends shaping the industry. By the course's end, students are equipped with the knowledge and insights needed to navigate the gaming industry and contribute to innovative game design.

What You Will Do:

  • Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions while incorporating innovative teaching strategies.
  • Engage students in cutting-edge technologies and industry trends.
  • Assess student performance and mentor classroom success to prepare them for their chosen career path.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

What You Will Bring:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Game Art, Game or Graphic Design, Film, Illustration, or other creative field, or a business degree with industry experience. OR bachelor’s degree in game development or other related STEAM field.
  • Minimum of 3 years working in the game design industry, broad skills in software used in the game industries including the Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Required: Portfolio or case studies of game production projects worked on by the candidate.
    Knowledge of the game theories and the game marketplace; the game production pipeline, game creative direction, ability to manage a creative team.
    • Please include a summary of your practical work experience within the game entertainment market, including analog, digital, and mobile.
