Located in the Valley of Sun in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, GCU is a regionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University. 

The College of Engineering and Technology is hiring a Graduate Assistant to support undergraduate courses in technology. This role combines academic and administrative tasks, providing valuable experience for those pursuing an instructor or professor career. Responsibilities include developing teaching materials, grading exams and assignments, teaching labs, preparing lab equipment, and holding office hours.

The GA will be mentored by experienced faculty, gaining hands-on teaching experience, leadership skills, and classroom management techniques. Additionally, the role involves supporting accreditation efforts, assisting with research, and managing lab operations to ensure a smooth learning environment. This position offers a well-rounded experience for future faculty development.

What you will do:

  • Assist in teach courses in area of expertise.

  • Develop and provide instruction that incorporates current teaching methodologies, technologies and other trends that reflect advances in the requisite discipline educational instruction.

  • Engage students within classroom to stimulate discussions for collective learning.

  • Stay current on topics and practices related to the discipline.

  • Incorporate relevant research resources and experiential activities to support course objectives, lectures and learning outcomes.

  • Assess student performance in accordance with University Assessment Practices.

  • Maintain compliance with all college and University policies and program accreditation/licensure requirements.

  • Assist students outside classroom hours.

  • Assist faculty and students with research project.

  • Assisting faculty in the development of new material for their courses.

  • Review departmental needs and expectations and determines most effective means of execution of specific duties to ensure goals are met in a timely fashion.

  • Take direction and mentor feedback.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Must be enrolled in GCU master’s program.

  • Must be able to maintain an academic GPA of 3.0

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
