The L.O.P.E.S. Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Graduate Assistant to join the CHSS team to support a unique university program aimed at providing an empowering higher education experience and workforce development skills to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As a Graduate Assistant, you will play a vital role in facilitating the program's activities, assisting participants with their university experience, and fostering their personal and professional development.
What you will do:
Perform a variety of administrative tasks including preparation of Power Point presentations, data entry and analysis, web site development, collating marketing materials and presentations.
Provide academic support to participants, including help with in-class assignments and projects.
Offer guidance and mentorship to participants in navigating university resources, events, and activities.
Maintain regular communication with program participants, their families, and relevant campus stakeholders.
Mentor L.O.P.E.S. Academy peer mentors on how to best guide and support their L.O.P.E.S. Academy participant through the university experience.
Monitor participants' progress during internships, offering guidance and support as needed, and facilitating communication with internship supervisors.
Responsible for planning and organizing the activities of an assigned program, project, unit or function and ensuring the activities’ infrastructure is in place.
Develop and schedules program work plans in accordance with specifications and funding limitation; oversees daily operations and coordinates activities of programs and determines priorities.
Partner and collaborate with various internal contacts, or customers, to coordinate activities, promote and encourage cooperation of submission or collection of information/data, products or services or process improvement.
Manage the flow of activities and acts as liaison to all others involved in the operation.
Other duties as assigned.
What you will need:
Experience working or volunteering in educational or community programs specifically designed for the neurodiverse population
Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Master’s program
Retain a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student
Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University
Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
