Course: Front-End Development for Web Design
In this course, students learn web design production and development. Web layouts, style, artistic quality, performance, navigation, and accessibility are explored in the development of websites using HTML and CSS. The focus of the course is to develop a core foundation in HTML and CSS, with an understanding of JavaScript.
What You Will Do:
- Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions while incorporating innovative teaching strategies.
- Engage students in cutting-edge technologies and industry trends.
- Assess student performance and mentor classroom success to prepare them for their chosen career path.
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
What You Will Bring:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Visual Arts, or a related field.
- Master’s degree preferred, along with a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in the design industry.
Required Skills and Expertise:
- Proficiency in User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) Design.
- Solid understanding of HTML and CSS.
- Competency with industry-standard design software, including:
- Adobe XD (Experience Design)
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
- A text editor such as Sublime Text, BBEdit, Coda, or similar.
Relevant Professional Titles May Include:
- Product Designer
- UX/UI Designer
- Web Designer
- Front-End Web Designer/Developer
Additional Technical Requirements:
- Candidates must be able to teach using the most current versions of Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
- Grand Canyon University does not provide software or hardware outside of on-campus classrooms; instructors must have access to their own tools if teaching remotely.
- A portfolio showcasing recent professional work is required at the time of application.
