Grand Canyon University is currently seeking a 9-month, full-time faculty member to support the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) with the instruction of English literature and writing courses. As a full-time Faculty member, you’ll provide program instruction incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies, and other industry trends reflecting advancements in your discipline. Courses taught include: Multicultural Literature, American Encounter Narratives, The Novel, Introduction to Young Adult Literature, and Composition I & II.

Please note, this is a 9-month full time faculty position based at our main campus in Phoenix, AZ.
What you will do:
Teaches one or more subjects within prescribed curriculum, such as Young Adult Literature, and Composition I & II..
Prepares and delivers lectures to students. Stimulates class discussions and provides direction to instructional assistants including norming and training in writing instruction.
Compiles bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments.
Compiles, administers, and grades examinations.
Required to maintain the equivalent of a four course load (18 credit hours) either on-ground or online and assists students outside of the classroom hours.
Student classroom load will be assigned based upon teaching qualifications and demonstrated classroom facilitation.
What you need:?
Experience teaching courses in developmental writing.
Master's degree in English with emphasis in American Literature, required.
Ph.D. in English with emphasis in American Literature, preferred
One year of instructional experience at the post-secondary level teaching literature courses.
Coursework in Young Adult literature.
Two years of instructional experience at the post-secondary level, that includes teaching American literature, young adult literature, and short story courses, conducting and managing learning experiences, evaluating student achievement, providing input into curriculum development, policy and procedure formulation, and evaluation of program effectiveness.
