Grand Canyon University is seeking a full time Facilities Housing Crew Supervisor for our Facilities Department.  The Facilities Housing Supervisor is responsible for high-quality general maintenance operations of the University’s student housing complexes which include service requests, preventive maintenance programs, staff supervision, work assignments, safety, and customer service.

What you will do:

  • Prioritizes and dispatches service requests to the general housing maintenance team. 
  • Monitors daily completion of service requests and follows up on any outstanding items; may assist in the completion of service requests as necessary.
  • Directs workers in the performance of all general maintenance/repairs related to events within budgeted guidelines.
  • Provides professional development trainings as a team and individually. For example, general maintenance strategies, safety procedures, turnover expectations, and standards. 
  • Supervises employees, ensuring a motivated and engaged workforce by providing positive reinforcement, counseling, and mentoring.
  • Reports all escalated general maintenance requests to the manager in a timely manner.
  • Addresses student residents’ concerns and resolves issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Inspects grounds, housing facilities, and other community features daily to minimize liability concerns and to always ensure excellent curb appeal.
  • Assists student residents during move-in and move-out programmed days.
  • Observes safety and security procedures and determines the appropriate action beyond guidelines and reports unsafe conditions to appropriate staff.

What you need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some trade school/training is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in general maintenance, building maintenance, renovation, or construction.  University housing general maintenance work experience is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or lead general maintenance work experience preferred.
  • Ability to meet and deal tactfully, professionally and courteously with students, staff, general maintenance staff and/or vendors.
  • Proficient in the operation of power tools, hand tools, related machinery and equipment.
  • Must be knowledgeable of and have demonstrated proficiency in carpentry, electrical, HVAC, painting/plastering, drywall repair, plumbing and general maintenance.
  • Must have the physical skills and endurance to move about campus and the buildings in order to fulfill daily maintenance tasks and activities.
  • Self-motivated and shows initiative to start and complete tasks.
  • Must have familiarity of safety requirements and precautions and able to set examples for proper safety measurements for employees.
