Do you have a passion for safety while working in a team-oriented environment? Grand Canyon University's Facilities Services Department is seeking a fulltime Electrician. The Electrician is responsible for installations and repairs of electrical systems across the university. This person will observe safety and security procedures, determine appropriate action beyond guidelines, report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly.

What you will do:

  • Plans layout, installs, repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools.

  • Install, maintain, modify and repair all electrical distribution systems and associated electrical equipment.

  • Remain in compliance with current National Electric Code.

  • Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches and switches gears.

  • Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices.

  • Able to identify issues and make corrective measures to fix problems with electrical components.

What you will need:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an electrician

  • At least 2 years minimum experience working with commercial electrical systems.

  • Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Must be available to work on call shifts as assigned.

  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the role which require considerable use of your arms, legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and carrying of electrical components and other materials required for repair or installation.
