The College of Nursing and Health Care Professions is seeking a Director of Instruction. We are especially interested in applicants who can strengthen the diversity of our academic community.

***This role is located at our main campus - 33rd and Camelback in Phoenix, Arizona***

The Director of Instruction will be responsible for developing, implementing, and supervising academic programming and training related to curricula, pedagogy, learning technologies, research, and professional development to facilitate faculty professional growth at ABSN sites. The director will be responsible for performing individual faculty assessments to determine needed support, resources, training, and mentorship to ensure faculty meet the faculty teaching standards and expectations set by the college and university.

What you will do:

  • Enhance teaching faculty effectiveness by consulting with individual faculty to facilitate their growth in appropriate pedagogy (especially the use of technology, hands on or virtual), curriculum design, assessment of student learning, and professional formation
  • Conduct observations in the on-line classroom to offer constructive and supportive feedback to faculty on effective teaching strategies
  • Promote a culture of faculty development and life-long learning within the context of the university and college mission
  • Advocate for and works collaboratively with faculty and administration to create and promote educational scholarship
  • Develop faculty development events, workshops, program, seminars, learning communities and conferences designed to improve teaching and learning
  • Create, coordinate, and deliver "new faculty" orientation program
  • Develop and maintain college technology strategies and plans in agreement with Dean
  • Ensure instructional technology aligns with overall College and University strategic plan
  • Ensure College leadership team is kept informed of new developments and concerns
  • Assist in the selection of new systems and technologies in concert with IT senior leadership to ensure all systems/technologies align with overall GCU technology strategy

What you need:

  • MSN Required. Doctorate degree in Nursing preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience preferably in higher education
  • CNE preferred; must obtain within 1 year of hire
  • Minimum of three years as a registered nurse; one year shall be in teaching or clinical supervision or combination thereof
