Course - Coach Soccer: Theory and Practice
This course is intended to introduce the profession of coaching soccer and to explore the issues of qualifications; player and coach development; coaching styles, philosophies, and objectives; motivation, team dynamics, and leadership; and sportsperson ship. Special areas of emphasis include the fundamental skills and strategies of soccer, the application of sport-teaching fundamentals to skill and strategy presentation, conditioning, organizing practices and games, and player evaluation. The course also includes field experience-both on and off site-to integrate theory and skills with professional practice.
What You Will Do:
- Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions
- Engage students in learning course objectives and topics
- Assess student performance and mentor success in the classroom
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University
What You Will Bring:
- Preferred: Doctorate or Master’s in the following:
- Exercise Science
- Physical Therapy
- Physical Education
- Human Performance
- Exercise Physiology
- Minimum: Master’s in any field with 18 graduate credit hours in Exercise Science, Physical Therapy, Physical Education, Human Performance, or Exercise Physiology
