Campus Event Manager
Job Description
Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions:
- Oversee and ensure the assigned event team staff are meeting necessary event efficiency and timelines.
- Manage and buildout event team goals and processes to help support the department and GCU as a collective unit.
- Manages staff with responsibility and accountability for performance and results; coaches, counsels, mentors, appraises performance, and makes employment decisions.
- Oversee event activities to ensure satisfaction of participants, performance of staff and objectives have been met.
- Collaborate with other campus departments towards event planning logistics as necessary.
- Works with event team in overview of concepts and practices with evolving event planning strategies and logistics to support internal or external event clients for campus events, but not limited too.
- Helps to facilitate internal communications across the University and within the internal department as related to event efforts.
- Helps to establishes awareness and protocols for events to ensure all legal or contractual obligations are executed and use of outside vendors is within operating procedures.
- Managing staff scheduling or rotation as needed.
- Responsible for working both independently and in a team environment.
- Assist in ensuring all team members follow all operational steps to ensure operational efficiency and excellent customer service.
- Adhere to all GCU regulations and guidelines; assist in ensuring all data as required is updated.
- Communicate with internal and external customers in a professional and timely manner.
- Holds event planning meetings with organizing committees to assist with planning scope and format of events.
- Attend scheduled business meetings, in absence of Department of Head.
- Report weekly, monthly, and quarterly goals.
- Monitor and evaluate individual and team performance.
- Initiate corrective or disciplinary actions to include termination if applicable.
- Other duties as assigned.
Equipment Used and Responsibility
- MS Office Suite, Excel and PowerPoint and familiarity with software databases.
- Must cope and adapt to changing priorities, work in a fast-paced environment and under stressful conditions which can occur frequently.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise event team members.
Experience/ Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 4+ years with event coordinator and planning.
- Supervisory experience is requested.
- Project Management skills required.
- Demonstrated experience with leading a customer service team preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to think quickly and problem-solve.
- Demonstrated time management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Must work varying schedules including evenings, holidays and weekends.
- Must have valid drivers license with clean driving record.
- Must pass pre-employment background investigation.
