Shape the bright futures of Grand Canyon University students as an adjunct faculty member for the traditional ground campus in the College of Science, Engineering and Technology .  Through hands-on, inquiry-based learning, the college provides an outlet for innovation and cross-disciplinary exposure. It also features pre-professional degrees in biology, alongside our degrees in information systems, and a forensic science and exercise science program.  

As an adjunct faculty member, you’ll provide program instruction incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies and other industry trends reflecting advancements in your discipline.  If you are highly motivated and passionate about teaching exceptional quality instruction in modern facilities with smaller class sizes, we’d like to hear from you. 

Course Description:

  • The Internet Age has introduced myriad legal challenges on a global level. Students will explore the emerging specialty within law that is cyber law. Topics will expose the reality that our legal system has evolved in a physical and visual world, but cyber space is largely invisible and virtual. Students will learn that past legal decisions or legal precedence has been important in our system and reasoning by analogy has been used extensively. In many cases the laws applied in the physical realm do not translate equally well into cyber space. This course will discuss the importance of this area introduce legal issues that need to be addressed. Practicum/field experience hours: None. Cyberlaw and Privacy in a Digital Age. Prerequisite: PSY-102.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession.  Other main responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Qualifications:

  • Masters (or higher) in Information Technology or Masters (or higher) in Computer Science or Masters (or higher) in Computer Information or Masters (or higher) in a related field providing equivalent experience. Preference given to individuals with Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or a law degree and experience in cybersecurity law. - OR - Bachelors (or higher) in Information Technology or Bachelors (or higher) in Computer Science or Bachelors (or higher) in Computer Information or Bachelors (or higher) in a related field providing equivalent experience, AND possess at least one Industry Standard Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or a law degree and experience in cybersecurity law is required. - OR- Bachelors in any field AND 10+ years of industry or instructional experience in designing and/or implementing security infrastructures and/or conducting security assessments, penetration testing, and/or risk analysis in mid to large size organizations. At least one Industry Standard Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or a law degree and experience in cybersecurity law is required. 
  • All instructors, regardless of their degrees, must have 2-5 years’ experience with Information Assurance, Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) and extensive knowledge of the legal, ethical, and privacy issues as they apply to cybersecurity. Specific knowledge areas include the legalities and ethics of hacking, corporate information security and use policies, the government’s role in cybersecurity, the roles and responsibilities of individual cybersecurity practitioners as well as corporate entities, vulnerability disclosure, and privacy policies and regulations as they relate to cybersecurity and information systems.
