Grand Canyon University is seeking a new School Counseling Coordinator / Lead Faculty. This positon acts as coordinator/faculty lead for the College of Education counseling program. Serves as the COE liaison with all other colleges who have counseling programs. Will have 2 course release load for serving as the CACREP coordinator. The work location for this position is the main campus of GCU.

This is a fulltime 12 month faculty contract and is targeted to start immediately. Please note, this position is based on our main campus in Phoenix. AZ and is NOT remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and delivers lessons to graduate students within the prescribed curriculum. Stimulates class discussions and facilitates learning in the on-ground or online classroom.
  • Assesses student performance in accordance with University Assessment Practices.
  • Remains current in the field of school counseling, counselor education, and effective teaching techniques.
  • Maintains course teaching load each semester, teaching in a blended format, face to face and online and assists with all CACREP accreditation processes and program development and maintenance. 
  • Offers curriculum recommendations and collaborates with Curriculum Design and Development department and other subject matter experts for all CACREP related content and program evaluation and/or revision.
  • Supports adherence to CACREP standards and policies.
  • Works with other Counseling faculty leads to evaluate and review all counseling applications
  • Becomes actively involved in the college to work alongside undergraduate and graduate students in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
  • Participates in faculty, College of Education, University, curriculum design meetings, as well as College/University committee activities and commencements.
  • Maintains an active School Counseling license.
  • Show evidence of advocacy/professional service, research or scholarly activities in counseling.
  • Supports the integrity of the GCU mission and educational learning outcomes.
  • Supports the mission, goals, and curriculum of the of school counselor education program.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Faculty Chair/Director of Academic Programs for the College of Education, centered on teaching, service, and scholarship.
  • Collaborate with other colleges as needed.  

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervisor, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program.
  • Must hold an independent license in the field of counseling
  • Work or teaching experience in conducting research or scholarly related activities

OR

  • Doctoral degree in a related field (clinical/counseling psychology, marriage and family therapy, behavioral or mental health, or substance abuse counseling)
  • Employed as full time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013
  • Holds an independent license in the field of counseling, and has experience in conducting research or scholarly related activities.

  • Student-oriented. Exhibits the highest standards of dedication and commitment to quality service to meet or exceed student requirements.
  • Problem-solving ability. Able to identify problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and make final recommendations.
  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternative solutions and make final recommendations.
  • Good planning and organizational skills with the ability to anticipate potential problems or obstacles and resolve.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
