Course Description: ENG-381: Writing for Advertising and PR
- This course exposes students to the various types of writing tasks utilized by PR and advertising professionals. In addition to enabling students to write with clarity and skill for various media and contexts, this course encourages students to use strategy, creativity, and critical thinking in composing advertising and public relations material.
Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession.
- Minimum: Masters in Composition or Masters in Writing or Masters in Professional Writing or Masters in Rhetoric or Masters in Linguistics; with coursework in Advertising and PR. Preferred: PhD Composition or PhD Writing or PhD Professional Writing or PhD Rhetoric or PhD Linguistics with coursework in Advertising and PR. Exceptional Experience: Masters in any field plus 18 graduate credits in the content area of the course they are teaching or at least two years of experience teaching advertising or PR at the collegiate level or at least 2 years of professional employment with an advertising or PR firm.
