Adjunct Faculty - Pharmacology - Evening Main Campus Cohort - College of Nursing and Health Care Professions
Shape the bright futures of Grand Canyon University students as an adjunct faculty member for the traditional ground campus in the College of Nursing and Health Care Professions, which boasts a rich 30-year history providing outstanding health care and nursing degree programs. Students can earn their RN to BSN, or a master’s in nursing degree specializing in advanced patient care or in the emerging fields of health care administration, management, or public health.
As an adjunct faculty member, you’ll provide program instruction incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies and other industry trends reflecting advancements in your discipline. Immediate part-time, Evening instructors (In Person, on the Main Campus) needed for Advanced Pharmacology.
Only those in Phoenix and the surrounding areas will be considered. Must be willing to be on the Main Campus, 1 day a week (Tuesdays), from 5 PM- 9PM.
Class runs from 1/6/2022-4/27/2022 (first class will meet 1/11), 1 evening per week, (Tuesdays) on the Main Campus. Must be available for 4 hours each Tuesday, from 5 PM-9 PM.
NUR-635: Advanced Pharmacology
This course focuses on the basic concepts and principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and their practical implication in clinical practice. This course also places an emphasis on the strong influence of physiological variables (age, ethnicity, or pregnancy) and pathological conditions (hepatic or renal insufficiency, cardiac dysfunction) on drugs’ pharmacological response. An in-depth understanding of the relationship between patient’s physiological/pathological variables and pharmacodynamics/pharmacokinetics can provide additional insight for practitioners in predicting potential drug interactions, and thus will provide additional guidance in prescribing strategies. This course also includes clinical pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics; clinical toxicology; and pathology and pharmacotherapy of cardiovascular, psychiatric, endocrine, respiratory, gastrointestinal, bone and joint, infectious, reproductive, and dermatological disorders.
- Required: Masters degree in Nursing (APRN) or a PharmD., DO, MD, or Master's prepared Physician's Assistant.
- Nurses must maintain an active, current and unencumbered RN license. Current board certification required in area of practice. Minimum of 2 years professional experience.
- APRN license must be issued two year's prior to application date.
- APRN Must hold ANCC or AANP (or similar) certification.
- Please attach unofficial transcript reflecting conferred/awarded date.
- Proficient in English, Grammar, and writing in APA format.
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
- Successfully pass a drug screen.

Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession.
