Shape the bright futures of Grand Canyon University students as an adjunct faculty member for the traditional ground campus in the College of Nursing and Health Care Professions, which boasts a rich 30-year history providing outstanding health care and nursing degree programs. Students can earn their RN to BSN, or a master’s in nursing degree specializing in advanced patient care or in the emerging fields of health care administration, management, or public health.

As an adjunct faculty member, you’ll provide program instruction incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies and other industry trends reflecting advancements in your discipline.  If you are highly motivated and passionate about teaching exceptional quality instruction in modern facilities with smaller class sizes, we’d like to hear from you. 

Immediate part-time, Traditional Campus instructors needed for NUR-669: Advanced Practice Management of Geriatric Issues in Primary Care. This course is held on Tuesdays from 4 PM - 8 PM. This class runs 1 day a week at the Main Campus starting 5/3/2018-6/27/2018. This course has 2 sections. Only applicants living in Phoenix and the surrounding areas will be considered.  Candidates that are available during these times are encouraged to apply. 

NUR-669: Advanced Practice Management of Geriatric Issues in Primary Care

This course focuses on the three levels of prevention and comprehensive primary care management of geriatric health care problems of individuals and their families within a culturally and spiritually diverse environment. Advanced health assessment, health promotion and disease prevention counseling, advanced pharmacology, and advanced physiology and pathophysiology principles are integrated with spirituality concepts and advanced nursing theory. Evidence-based research is utilized to develop comprehensive, cost-effective, least invasive, quality health care for geriatric clients. Care includes health promotion and disease prevention counseling, client education, and appropriate screening to optimize the client's health. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning to guide clinical decision making. Management of client illness includes ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic integrative healing therapies, collaborating with other health professionals and community agencies, and pursuing appropriate follow-up.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession.  Other main responsibilities include the following:

  • Must be able to teach at the Main Phoenix Campus 1 evening a week: 
  • Must be able to teach on Tuesdays from 4 PM - 8 PM, starting 5/3/2018-6/27/2018 at the Main Campus in Phoenix
  • Campus evening course pay is more, as compared to online

Requirements:

  • Preferred: Doctorate in Nursing (DNP/PhD). Minimum: Masters in Nursing.
  • Current board certification as Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Gerontological Nurse Practitioner (GNP)
  • Nurses must maintain an active unencumbered RN license.
  • 2 years’ experience as an Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Gerontological Nurse Practitioner (GNP). Your licensure must reflect an issue date of two year’s prior.
  • Proficient in English, Grammar, and writing in APA format.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
  • Must be able to teach at the Phoenix Main Campus during the days and times listed above. This course has 2 sections.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screen.
